On the southwestern coast of Bangladesh, rising seas, cyclones and saltwater intrusion are reshaping life in communities across Satkhira and Khulna. Saltwater Lives explores the growing water crisis and the everyday realities of people living between land and sea. Once-fresh ponds and wells have become saline, farmland has been damaged, and access to safe drinking water has become a daily struggle. Women and children often travel long distances to collect fresh water, while families store and carefully ration limited supplies. The project also documents how repeated climate disasters and displacement have transformed livelihoods and family life, forcing many people to seek work elsewhere while women carry much of the responsibility at home. Through intimate portraits, landscapes and moments of daily life, the series focuses not only on loss but also on adaptation, dignity and resilience among communities facing an increasingly uncertain climate future.
